THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE HAS ISSUED SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WATCH 293 IN EFFECT UNTIL 10 PM CDT /9 PM MDT/ THIS EVENING FOR THE FOLLOWING AREAS IN KANSAS THIS WATCH INCLUDES 14 COUNTIES IN SOUTHWEST KANSAS FINNEY GRANT GRAY HAMILTON HASKELL KEARNY MORTON SEWARD STANTON STEVENS IN WEST CENTRAL KANSAS LANE NESS SCOTT TREGO THIS INCLUDES THE CITIES OF CIMARRON, DEERFIELD, DIGHTON, ELKHART, GARDEN CITY, HUGOTON, JOHNSON CITY, LAKIN, LIBERAL, MONTEZUMA, NESS CITY, SATANTA, SCOTT CITY, SCOTT STATE LAKE, SUBLETTE, SYRACUSE, ULYSSES, AND WAKEENEY.

Description

At 410 PM CDT, a severe thunderstorm was located near Ryus, moving northeast at 35 mph.
Hazard: 60 mph wind gusts and penny size hail.
Source: Radar indicated.
Impact: Expect damage to roofs, siding, and trees. This severe thunderstorm will remain over mainly rural areas of eastern Grant and northwestern Haskell Counties.

Recommended Action

For your protection move to an interior room on the lowest floor of a building.
