Description

The National Weather Service in Indianapolis has issued a Flash Flood Warning for Southwestern Lawrence County in south central Indiana Northern Daviess County in southwestern Indiana Northern Martin County in southwestern Indiana Until 600 AM EDT. At 246 AM EDT, Doppler radar indicated thunderstorms producing heavy rain across the warned area. Up to 3.5 inches of rain have fallen. Additional rainfall amounts up to 2.5 inches are possible in the warned area. Flash flooding is ongoing or expected to begin shortly.
Hazard: Flash flooding caused by thunderstorms.

Impact: Flash flooding of small creeks and streams, urban areas, highways, streets and underpasses as well as other poor drainage and low-lying areas. Some locations that will experience flash flooding include Mitchell, Odon, Plainville, Indian Springs, Burns City, West Boggs Lake, Huron, Williams and Tunnelton.

Recommended Action

Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood deaths occur in vehicles. Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the dangers of flooding.
