Description

The Flood Warning continues for the following rivers in Indiana Illinoi
S: White River at Hazleton and Petersburg. Wabash River at Mount Carmel. .Flooding will continue through early next week at Petersburg and Hazleton, and ending this week at Mount Carmel.
What: Minor flooding is occurring and minor flooding is forecast.
Where: White River at Petersburg.
When: Until early Saturday morning.
Impacts: At 20.9 feet, During June 2010 State Road 257 south of Washington began to flood at this crest level at Petersburg after Shoals crested at 18.19 feet. About a week later Petersburg crested at 21.34 feetabout one half foot higherbut the water did not reach State Road 257 after Shoals crested at 15.59 feet about 2.5 feet lower. Lost River did not contribute much water during this June flood and locally it was not extremely wet.

Recommended Action

Motorists should not attempt to drive around barricades or drive cars through flooded areas. Flooding is occurring or is imminent. Most flood related deaths occur in automobiles. Do not attempt to cross water covered bridges, dips, or low water crossings. Never try to cross a flowing stream, even a small one, on foot. To escape rising water find another route over higher ground. Additional information is available at www.weather.gov/ind.
