THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE HAS ISSUED SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WATCH 304 IN EFFECT UNTIL 10 PM CDT THIS EVENING FOR THE FOLLOWING AREAS IN ILLINOIS THIS WATCH INCLUDES 21 COUNTIES IN CENTRAL ILLINOIS CHRISTIAN DE WITT LOGAN MACON MARSHALL MASON MCLEAN MENARD SANGAMON TAZEWELL WOODFORD IN EAST CENTRAL ILLINOIS CHAMPAIGN COLES DOUGLAS EDGAR MOULTRIE PIATT VERMILION IN WEST CENTRAL ILLINOIS CASS MORGAN SCOTT THIS INCLUDES THE CITIES OF BEARDSTOWN, BLOOMINGTON, CHAMPAIGN, CHARLESTON, CLINTON, DANVILLE, DECATUR, EUREKA, HAVANA, JACKSONVILLE, LACON, LINCOLN, MATTOON, MONTICELLO, NORMAL, PARIS, PEKIN, PETERSBURG, SPRINGFIELD, SULLIVAN, TAYLORVILLE, TUSCOLA, URBANA, AND WINCHESTER.

Description

At 329 PM CDT, severe thunderstorms were located along a line extending from near Wenona to near Flanagan to near Hudson, moving northeast at 45 mph.
Hazard: 60 mph wind gusts.
Source: Radar indicated.
Impact: Expect damage to roofs, siding, and trees. These severe storms will be near Gridley around 335 PM CDT. Chenoa around 340 PM CDT. Other locations impacted by these severe thunderstorms include Cooksville, Kappa, and Weston. This includes the following highway
S: Interstate 39 between mile markers 0 and 10. Interstate 55 between mile markers 160 and 186. Interstate 74 between mile markers 125 and 130.

Recommended Action

For your protection move to an interior room on the lowest floor of a building.
