Special Weather Statement

Issued at Thu 4:52 AM Apr. 2
Issued by: Environment and Climate Change Canada
Description

Poor travel conditions possible today.

Snow is expected to intensify this morning across southern and central Alberta, impacting parts of Highway 2 and stretches of Highway 1 both west of Calgary and southeast toward Medicine Hat.

Periods of heavy snow may reduce visibility and lead to rapidly changing road conditions. Conditions are expected to improve by this evening.

Total snowfall amounts remain uncertain with 5 to 15 cm possible in some locations. Temperatures near zero may limit snowfall accumulation.

Allow extra time to travel and be prepared for changing conditions.

Temperatures are forecast to rise this weekend, and any snow that does accumulate will likely melt quickly, improving travel conditions for the long weekend
