Description

What: Flooding caused by excessive rainfall continues.
Where: Northwestern Clinton County in northern New York Northern Franklin County in northern New York Northeastern St. Lawrence County in northern New York
When: Until 230 AM EDT.
Impacts: Flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations is imminent or occurring.
Additional Details: - At 116 AM EDT, the public reported slow moving thunderstorms with very heavy rainfall across the warned area. Between 2.5 and 3.5 inches of rain have fallen. - Additional rainfall amounts of 0.2 to 0.5 inches are possible in the warned area. - Some locations that will experience flooding include Mooers Village, Malone Village, Burke Village, Chateaugay Village, Brushton, Massena International Airport - Richards Field, Massena Village, Constable, Burke, Westville, Malone, Bangor, Chateaugay, Fort Covington, Bellmont, Moira, Bombay, Clinton, Ellenburg and Brasher. - http://www.weather.gov/safety/flood

Recommended Action

Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood deaths occur in vehicles. Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the dangers of flooding. Flooding is occurring or is imminent. It is important to know where you are relative to streams, rivers, or creeks which can become killers in heavy rains. Campers and hikers should avoid streams or creeks.
