THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE HAS ISSUED TORNADO WATCH 214 IN EFFECT UNTIL 11 PM CDT THIS EVENING FOR THE FOLLOWING AREAS IN KANSAS THIS WATCH INCLUDES 9 COUNTIES IN NORTH CENTRAL KANSAS CLAY CLOUD OTTAWA REPUBLIC WASHINGTON IN NORTHEAST KANSAS MARSHALL NEMAHA POTTAWATOMIE RILEY THIS INCLUDES THE CITIES OF BELLEVILLE, BENNINGTON, BLUE RAPIDS, CLAY CENTER, CLIFTON, CONCORDIA, FRANKFORT, GREENLEAF, HANOVER, LINN, MANHATTAN, MARYSVILLE, MINNEAPOLIS, SABETHA, SENECA, ST. MARYS, WAMEGO, AND WASHINGTON.

Flood Watch

Description

Several rounds of thunderstorms are expected this afternoon and again Monday afternoon. Rainfall totals ranging from 2-4 inches will be possible over the next 48 hours with locally higher amounts. Rainfall ends early Tuesday morning.
What: Flooding caused by excessive rainfall is possible.
Where: Portions of north central and northeast Kansas, including the following counties, in north central Kansas, Clay, Cloud, Ottawa, Republic and Washington. In northeast Kansas, Brown, Jackson, Marshall, Nemaha, Pottawatomie and Riley.
When: From 7 PM CDT this evening through Tuesday morning.
Impacts: Excessive runoff may result in flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations.
Additional Details: - Multiple rounds of heavy rainfall.

Recommended Action

You should monitor later forecasts and be alert for possible Flood Warnings. Those living in areas prone to flooding should be prepared to take action should flooding develop.

Description

What: South winds 25 to 30 mph with gusts up to 45 mph.
Where: Portions of east central, north central, and northeast Kansas.
When: Until 9 PM CDT this evening.
Impacts: Gusty winds will blow around unsecured objects. Small tree limbs could be blown down too. Isolated power outages may result.

Recommended Action

Winds this strong can make driving difficult, especially for high profile vehicles. Use extra caution while driving. Secure outdoor objects.
