Special Weather Statement
Significant rainfall is expected.
Locations: Prince Edward Island.
Potential rainfall amounts: 50 to 80 mm. Possibly higher in areas of heaviest rain.
Time span: Friday morning until potentially Sunday evening.
Remarks: A developing and slow-moving weather system is expected to bring a period of significant rainfall. Tropical moisture will contribute to sustained, heavy downpours. Rainfall rates of 10 to 20 mm per hour may occur over some locations. Thunderstorms may develop over some areas, producing locally heavier rainfall. Forecast guidance is beginning to indicate with increasing certainly that Prince Edward Island and Cape Breton will receive the heaviest rainfall from this system. Rainfall warnings may be issued for the Island with the afternoon forecast.
Water pooling on roads may make travel more difficult in some areas.
Consider adjusting travel plans to avoid the most adverse conditions.
