Special Weather Statement

Issued at Wed 10:46 PM Sep. 2
Issued by: Environment and Climate Change Canada
Description

Significant rainfall is expected.

Locations: Eastern Nova Scotia and Cape Breton.

Time span: Friday midday until Monday morning.

Remarks: A developing and slow-moving weather system is expected to bring a period of significant rainfall. Tropical moisture will contribute to sustained, torrential downpours. Rainfall rates of 10 to 20 mm per hour may occur over some locations. Thunderstorms may develop over some areas, producing locally heavier rainfall. There is some uncertainty as to where the highest rainfall amounts will occur, but the potential exists for significant totals over some locations.

Similar storms in the past have caused water pooling on roads and road washouts.

Consider adjusting travel plans to avoid the most adverse conditions.
