Special Weather Statement

Issued at Wed 10:39 PM Sep. 2
Issued by: Environment and Climate Change Canada
Description

Significant rainfall is possible.

Locations: Western and Central Nova Scotia.

Time span: Thursday evening until Saturday evening.

Remarks: A developing and slow-moving weather system is expected to bring a period of significant rainfall. Tropical moisture may contribute to sustained, heavy downpours. Rainfall rates of 10 mm per hour may occur over some locations. Thunderstorms may develop over some areas, producing locally heavier rainfall.

There is some uncertainty as to where the highest rainfall amounts will occur, but latest forecast guidance is beginning to focus the heaviest rainfall on eastern areas of Nova Scotia and the threat to central and western Nova Scotia appears to be diminishing at this time.

Water pooling on roads may make travel more difficult in some areas.

Consider adjusting travel plans to avoid the most adverse conditions.
