A severe thunderstorm that hit the Hamilton area Saturday afternoon produced torrential rains, localized flooding and power outages

A slow-moving severe thunderstorm that moved through the Hamilton area Saturday afternoon dumped between 50 and 100 mm of rain or more in Waterdown before the storm moved out of the area. The storm also caused power outages in Ancaster, affecting approximately 8,000 customers at the peak, though almost all had been restored by Sunday morning.

Another round of thunderstorms moved through Waterdown in the evening, bringing more heavy rainfall, but remained non-severe in nature.
