Saturday, February 29th 2020, 8:45 am - Snow squall warnings continue along the shores of Lake Huron and Georgian Bay, as well as some inland areas in southwestern Ontario, but are expected to be dropped by Saturday afternoon
Though Thursday's snowstorm is long gone, icy winds behind it are fuelling a snow squall event that has seen snow bands reach even into the Greater Toronto Area, and is likely to deliver extreme snow totals to the traditional snowbelts of the southwest.
Many communities in the worst-hit areas near those lakes, like Barrie and Kincardine, had shut down service and roads, with some places even pulling plows until the squalls died down.
Outside the towns, several highways and other roadways were closed by police, with numerous collisions and stranded vehicles reported across the region.
Below is a selection of tweets showing how this snow squall event has been impacting the province.
