No injuries reported after partial collapse of Scarborough, Ont. Bluffs

No one was injured after a sizable chunk of the Scarborough Bluffs fell apart Sunday afternoon, setting off 'explosion-like' sounds and a wave of dust.

A significant chunk of the Scarborough, Ont. Bluffs collapsed on Sunday, resulting in "explosion-like" sounds and a wave of dust, according to Toronto police and an eyewitness.

The crumble, which occurred just before 4 p.m., not far from the lookout point on the bluffs, was filmed by Michaela Hawthorn, who spoke to CBC about the incident.

Hawthorn described a wave of dust swooping over everyone on the beach, seemingly scaring people as it did, she said.

Also reported by CBC, Toronto Fire District Chief Stephan Powell said no one was underneath the chunk of cliff when it collapsed, and there were no reports of injuries.

"It's a sand structure, stuff falls all the time," he said. "That's why we caution people not to climb it."
