Man dies at Erin, Ont., golf course following violent storm

The storm brought down several trees, which brought hydro lines with them.

A man in his 50s died in a golf course parking lot during a Saturday night storm.

OPP were called to the Calerin Golf Club in Erin, Ont., at around 6:10 p.m. for a person injured in the "violent storm."

Several trees were downed by the storm, one of which brought down a hydro line that prompted the man's pick-up truck to catch fire.

"Severe weather conditions caused a tree and hydro lines to fall across an unoccupied vehicle that was parked in the lot," an OPP media release stated. "The owner approached the vehicle and attempted to extinguish a small fire that had ignited, when he collapsed suddenly."
