In photos: Multi-day spring snowstorm targets eastern Prairies, NW Ontario
Road closures, power outages, and school closures dominated headlines in parts of the eastern Prairies and northwestern Ontario Wednesday as a powerful multi-day storm hit the region, creating hazardous conditions that will likely remain in place until the weekend.
STRONG WIND GUSTS
Wind gusts upwards of 70 km/hour have been clocked, further reducing visibility.
"Do not plan to travel - this storm has the potential to be the worst blizzard in decades," says Environment and Climate Change Canada in the winter storm warning. "Stock up on needed supplies and medications now."

HEAVY ACCUMULATION
Between 30 and 75 cm of snow is possible in some places through Friday, with significant accumulation already piled up on the ground.
ROAD CLOSURES
On Tuesday night, RCMP Manitoba opted to close all major highways ahead of the storm's arrival. For the first time in 25 years, all metro Winnipeg school divisions closed their doors.
