IN PHOTOS: B.C. impacted by heavy snow, road conditions deteriorate

Friday, January 10th 2020, 12:57 pm - Travel impacted as the first round of heavy snow hits Metro Vancouver, Fraser Valley and Lower Mainland Friday

Generous amounts of Pacific moisture combined with Arctic air sweeping down from the north is setting the state for a weekend of cold, messy weather for British Columbia.

Parts of Metro Vancouver are currently seeing snow and may receive as much as 5-10+ cm from the first round Friday, with 10-20 cm for the Fraser Valley and 20-40 cm for higher elevations. Snowfall amounts will vary throughout the Lower Mainland, but drivers are still being urged to adjust to possible changing road conditions.

That's not all for Metro Vancouver. The snow will transition to rain as the Friday wears on with parts of the region expected to pick up between 30-50 mm through Saturday. The heaviest rainfall amounts will be in western Vancouver Island, which could 75-100 mm in the same time period.

Here are some photos and videos from the B.C storm currently making the rounds on social media.
