Favourable setup for severe weather will resurface on the eastern Prairies

Tuesday will see a shift in the severe storm risk, moving into Manitoba and northwestern Ontario.

After tornado-warned storms trekked through parts of southern Saskatchewan and Manitoba Monday night, the threat for severe storms will linger in both provinces through the overnight period. On Tuesday, the potential will shift farther east into Manitoba and northwestern Ontario as the upper-level trough makes its way across the country. Monday overnight/Tuesday: Severe storms continue to track east

The thunderstorms will continue to track across southern Saskatchewan and Manitoba through Monday overnight, though the tornado threat will diminish.

The upper-level trough responsible for Monday’s severe weather will continue trekking east, bringing the threat for storms with it on Tuesday.

On Tuesday, after lingering storms early morning, southern Manitoba may see them fire up again in the afternoon and evening, also extending into northwestern Ontario.

The areas at risk of seeing severe storms Tuesday extends from southeastern Manitoba to Thunder Bay, Ont., where they could bring heavy rain, strong wind gusts and large hail.

Temperatures on Tuesday will remain warm, though not as hot as in recent days. Daytime highs will be into the upper 20s, approaching the 30-degree mark in many areas in southern Prairies. Meanwhile, parts of northern Manitoba could see daytime highs at the 30-degree mark. Feels-like values will be into the low and mid-30s in several locales
