Higher than normal water levels with large waves are expected near the coast.
Storm surge warning
Warning of potential breaking waves and overwash issued jointly by Fisheries and Oceans Canada (Science) and the Meteorological Service of Canada - Quebec Region on 2016-10-21 at 10:00 AM EDT.
An intense low pressure system from the eastern American seaboard will give strong winds over the above mentioned regions. The combination of strong winds and low atmospheric pressure will raise water levels which could produce breaking waves along the coast near theses localities, at the dates and times specified (Eastern Daylight Time).
Kamouraska - Rivière-du-Loup - Trois-Pistoles: 2016-10-22, from 07:00 pm to 11:00 pm.
Rimouski - Mont-Joli: 2016-10-22, from 06:00 pm to 10:00 pm.
Matane: 2016-10-22, from 06:00 pm to 10:00 pm.
Sainte-Anne-des-Monts - Grande-Vallée: 2016-10-22, from 05:30 pm to 09:30 pm.
Les Escoumins - Forestville: 2016-10-22, from 06:00 pm to 10:00 pm.
Baie-Comeau: 2016-10-22, from 06:00 pm to 10:00 pm.
Sept-Îles - Port-Cartier: 2016-10-22, from 05:30 pm to 09:30 pm.
Coastal flooding is possible along the shoreline.
Storm surge warnings are issued when water levels pose a threat to coastal regions.
