One of YouTube's latest viral videos features the tireless efforts of dedicated volunteers in India.

Animal Aid Unlimited -- a local rescue centre in Rajasthan, India -- was called after a passerby noticed a dog unable to move after falling into a hot tar pit.

The team used vegetable oil to remove the tar from the dog's body in a process that took three hours.

The rescue footage is dramatic, but the video ends with a happy dog, wagging its tail and enjoying some well-earned treats.

According to its YouTube page, Animal Aid Unlimited rescues thousands of animals in need while providing sanctuary to those that require life-long care.

While the video is a bit difficult to watch at first, it has become a virtual hit on YouTube, racking up more than 1 million views.

WARNING: If you're an animal lover, you may have a hard time watching the following video -- but if you decide to click, watch it all the way through. This story has a beautiful, happy ending.
