Pulsating purple light spotted hovering above the UK

Tuesday, January 20, 2015, 3:47 PM - When Craig Lowther took his dog for a walk in Tynemouth, England last week, he noticed something unusual in the the sky.
A strange, diamond-shaped light appeared to be hovering above him.
Lowther was able to zoom in and record the phenomenon. He later told reporters the footage "surprised" him:
"It appeared to be a dome with a bulge in the middle and it had pulsating lights on it," he recalled to ChronicleLive.
Lowther says the light captured his attention because it was an unusual colour and was moving in a haphazard manner.
Lowther isn't sure what he observed but says the light was unlike anything he'd ever seen.
The video is steadily gaining traction on YouTube and while some are convinced Lowther saw a UFO, scientists say there may be another explanation.
Sirius -- the brightest star system in our night sky -- is prominent this month, and it's easy to spot unassisted. When filtered through our Earth's atmosphere, Sirius appears to twinkle and change colour, giving off the impression that it's a UFO.
Astronomers say the star is often mistaken for an alien space ship.
Still -- the origin of the light Lowther observed has yet to be confirmed.
