What beautiful animals these are! The Lipizzan Stallions are a relatively rare breed brought to North America from Austria. These photos were taken at their training ground in Myakka City Florida near Sarasota Florida. We were thrilled by all their fancy maneuvers and a subsequent tour of the stables. Over the years Lipizzans were threatened by extinction. In one case they were saved during the latter part of World War 2 by a contingent of men under the protection of General Patton's army.
