Pilot captures meteor streaking over the sky in New York

Pilot Mike Grossman captured this dramatic footage (seen above) of a fireball blazing in the sky over New York on January 30.

At the six-second mark, the footage shows a meteor in the sky to the right of the plane as Grossman was flying 1,500 ft. above the Hudson River. 

The American Meteor Society received more than 800 reports from witnesses across the East Coast who spotted the fireball on Saturday evening.
