Wednesday, April 19, 2017, 5:00 - European Space Agency (ESA) astronaut Thomas Pesquet captured a mesmerizing time-lapse of a storm on the California horizon as witnessed from space (see video above).

The images uploaded to social media on Monday (April 17) show a thunderstorm looming over the state as lightning flashes brighten the skies. 

The time-lapse video was taken on day 88 (March 29) of Expedition 50 aboard the International Space Station (ISS), ESA told Reuters. 

Currently part of Expedition 51, Pesquet will be spending six months aboard the International Space Station.
