Flood Watch

Issued at 12:25 Sunday 23 February 2020

.A very strong storm system will continue to approach the region
today into Monday. This feature will interact with Gulf moisture
to produce widespread rainfall amounts ranging from 1 to
2 inches.

Given the wet soil conditions, elevated streamflows, and lack of
vegetation in the winter, flooding of small streams, creeks, and
rivers are likely across much of the region.

Low water crossings and low lying roads that are sensitive to
flooding will be the most likely locations to experience flooding
tonight into Monday.

The Flood Watch continues for

* Portions of southeast Kansas and Missouri, including the
following areas, in southeast Kansas, Bourbon, Cherokee, and
Crawford. In Missouri, Barry, Barton, Camden, Cedar,
Christian, Dade, Dallas, Dent, Douglas, Greene, Hickory,
Howell, Jasper, Laclede, Lawrence, McDonald, Newton, Oregon,
Ozark, Phelps, Polk, Pulaski, Shannon, St. Clair, Stone,
Taney, Texas, Vernon, Webster, and Wright.

* Through Monday afternoon

* Widespread rainfall is expected by late this afternoon into
Monday. Rainfall amounts will range from one to two inches.

* Several county and state highways will likely become
impassable in spots where flood prone low water crossings and
low bridges exist over flashy streams and creeks.
