Can Anybody Help?

23003 views Jon Van Loon October 31, 2019 Longboat Key, FL, USA Date shot: February 21, 2018

As a February, Canadian Snow Bird, I took this sunset picture from behind a large succulent plant, mainly because of the interesting effect it added to this gorgeous sunset in Longboat Key Florida. I show it here basically for this reason. However try as I might I cannot identify the name of this 1.5 m tall plant. The branches are fat with a circular cross section of about 2 cm and dark green in colour. At the time of this photo, there were few leaves as such and they are about 3 cm long and the same width and colour as the stems. I am told it flowers spectacularly in late spring early summer with yellow or orange flowers. I hope a reader/viewer can add a comment.
