Bright Iridium Flare near Polaris [the North/Pole Star]

945 views Big Poppa Ross October 16, 2017 New Hamburg, ON Date shot: October 16, 2017

This 10 minute exposure caught a very bright Iridium Flare [magnitude -8.1] passing close to Polaris - commonly called the North Star or the Pole Star in the Little Dipper constellation. Iridium Corp has lots of satellites orbiting the earth and the sun reflecting off of them can be pretty bright for just a few seconds if you know where and when to look.
