Where's Waldo? X Marks the Spot.

Normally, northern hawk owls are easy to spot as they tend to perch at the top of tall trees to survey for prey below. However, this owl has found a stand of spruce trees also makes for great shelter from crows and other birds that fly in to pester it. Soon as it sees crows flying close, it drops down into the spruce trees. Photographed in Ottawa last weekend. I found out about this owl just after Jan. 6th.
