A pair of rare Trumpeter Swans flew in this morning at Ingleside, Ontario. Over the past two years, this area has seen 3 species of wild Swans visit: Mute Swans, Tundra Swans, and Trumpeter Swans. Recently, I photographed a high count of 24 Mute Swans, 24 Tundra Swans, and 3 Trumpeter Swans. Since that time, the bird count has dropped as visiting birds move to other locations, but some are staying around, and hopefully they will nest this year. One pair of Mute Swans did nest in 2019 producing 7 cygnets with 3 of those cygnets surviving and reaching maturity (and that family wintered over in this area and are still here now).
