Trumpeter Cygnets Discovering the Flight Feathers

845 views Port Skipper July 16, 2014 unknown Date shot: July 16, 2014

I found two of the Trumpeter Swan Cygnets in the Nonquon / Port Perry Lagoons preening their newly sprouting wing flight feathers. Just one of many sessions to come. Ironically Mom and Dad were moulting some wing flight feathers this morning. The replacements will be in time for the fall migration. Being reintroduced birds the Trumpeters have not developed a migration pattern. The open waters of the lower great lakes seem to be the destination for many. Over time a pattern might develop.
