Taking a Dust Bath….. A wild turkey hen dug a hole in the earth and sat in the hole rolling side to side flipping the loose earth onto her body feathers as the photo shows. She actually rolled several times onto her back to embed earth dust into her back feathers. Every so often she would stand up and shake the dust out of her feathering, then she sat in the hole again and proceeded to put more earth into and onto her feathers. I have observed Wild Turkeys taking dust baths many times.
