A very accommodating short-eared owl flies around late in the day. This is looking to be a poor winter for seeing snowy owls in Ottawa. This may be due to a poor breeding season up north. Winter 2010-2011 was similar with very few snowy owls being seen. Let's give it a couple more weeks to see if any show up in Ottawa but the signs so far are not promising.
