The peregrine falcon has made a remarkable comeback since the 1970's when its population dwindled dramatically due to the use of the pesticide DDT. Thanks to recovery efforts over the last several decades and banning the use of DDT, peregrine falcons can be seen nesting at different locations in the Ottawa and surrounding areas where this female was photographed.
