The hawks have returned from their winter home. I believe this one is a Red - Tailed hawk. It is a very common bird of North America and can be found from Alaska and Northern Canada and south to Panama and the West Indies. The hawks come in many different shades or "morphs". Their main prey is the Richardson's ground squirrel, or gopher as we prairie people call them.
