Double-crested Cormorant in drying stance.

164 views Jim Middleton July 13, 2014 11 Memorial Drive, North Bay, ON P1B 4G6, Canada Date shot: July 12, 2014

This large bird, a Double-crested Cormorant, had just been fishing beside King's Landing and is now in the classic drying stance they take to dry their wings and feathers before taking off once again. Not popular in the area with local fishermen because of their voracious appetite, the numbers have been climbing rapidly in an area where there were none only a couple of years ago.
