Went to lake on weekend and water was open on Friday, snowed 5 cm Saturday with ice fog and temperature plummeted, it was -20 on Sunday morning. Ice was forming on lake but from cabin window was white rather then the normal grey color, could not figure out why. The lake was almost totally frozen over at this point. On Monday went outside and went down to lake to see why it was white and there was this vast field of large ice crystals that looked like miniature Christmas trees. Very beautiful and almost unbelievable. Have never seen anything like this and have been going to the lake for 40 years.
