A fitting setting for an Ottawa short-eared owl. The chilly temps have encapsulated the branches in an icy shroud. A refreshing owl to see as there are very few, if any snowy owls around eastern Ontario this fall likely due to a poor breeding season up north. This December is looking very much like winter 2010-2011 when almost no snowy owls showed up in eastern Ontario. Time will tell so give it a couple more weeks.
