I was planning to go visit a northern hawk owl at an out of town location but decided to leave it for another day. Working full time limits my outdoor exploring especially with dwindling daylight hours. I chose the easier option and photographed the usual suspects, a merlin trying to catch a mourning dove hiding below in the thicket on the left. Unsuccessfully I might add which is typically how these encounters turn out.
