Side view of Monarch Butterfly!

801 views Aline McNulty July 18, 2014 St. Catharines, ON Date shot: July 18, 2014

Last year I saw the Monarch twice only. I have been seeing them every day in the past week. Monarchs from Ontario migrate to central Mexico for the winter where counts this past winter were the lowest recorded to date. Removed earlier this year from Ontario's list of noxious weeds, milkweed plants provide a home and food for caterpillars that turns into Monarch butterflies, a special concern species under Ontario's Endangered Species Act.
