These photos were taken in southern Alberta in a favorite area of mine. I've seen Prairie Rattlesnakes before but never a nest like this. Both parents were present, calm and very well behaved. I was impressed by what good parents they seemed to be. I know many people will be fearful of these beautiful animals but they are actually very timid and to my mind a wonderful wild creature worthy of respect and protection.
