Two otters were photographed this morning near Ingleside, Ontario. They were playing on the ice doing belly slides on the fresh snow that covered part of the frozen river shoreline. Repeatedly, they dove into the river through holes in the ice and then surfaced. They brought up from the river a dead beaver which they proceeded to feed on, at that point two adult Bald Eagles hovered over them and landed, hoping to steal their food, but the otters put the charge on the eagles so it kept them at a distance. The eagles stood on the ice waiting. But the otters took the food back into the river and disappeared under the ice. It was very interesting to see how wildlife handles itself.
