While walking the trails in Champlain Park along the Lavase River I noticed these 2 Painted Turtles sunning themselves from a lofty perch above the calm river. Most of the turtles I'd seen that day were on a log very close to the water but maybe this pair were on a date and wanted a 'special spot' to remember the date by. One even motioned with its front foot as if to tell me to go away, he's about to 'make a move'.
