Last winter was a dud for this boreal forest species. There were some locations but too far to drive to. This winter will be a good one for seeing Northern Hawk Owl. some areas had them starting in October but November is when they move southward. Snowy Owls on the otherhand, doesn't look good so far. It is reminding me of winter 2010-2011 when very few snowy owls showed up. Likely due to a poor breeding season up north.
