In spring I was walking along Queen's Quay (harbour front) when I looked down & saw 2 swans (I assume mates) working diligently at building a nest. One picked up straw & tossed it back to the one sitting on the nest and eggs. While she sat on the eggs he swam back and forth - it seemed like he was protecting her. It was beautiful to see but sadly the city comes and takes her eggs away and gets rid of the nest. Good thing we don't do that to human moms - how terrible!! Now the 2 swim alone.
