Two days ago in a casual conversation with a lady named Carol Casey while I was photographing Ducks and other waterfowl on the Waterford River in Bowring Park in St Johns, she showed me a picture of a Wood Duck she had recently taken with her phone and I was amazed as I have photographed in and around the park for years and have never seen one. It turns out that it was a very rare sighting indeed as they are not native to anywhere in Newfoundland or the Maritime Provinces. So I decided to take the 150x600mm lens along with my Nikon D810 down to the area today in hopes of finding this elusive bird and as luck would have after about 30 minutes in the rain I did find him and spent the next 90 minutes photographing him. Moderate rain and wind could not dampen my excitement.
