Scene From Canada's Smallest Territory

44895 views Jon Van Loon September 15, 2020 Yukon Territory Date shot: June 14, 2010

Canada consists of 3 territories and 10 provinces. The Yukon from where I took this picture is the smallest of the territories with PEI being the smallest province. When I stepped off a plane onto Yukon soil it marked the completion of my travels to every provincial and territorial jurisdiction in Canada; but it was far from the least outstanding and I would have visited there much sooner had I known of it's incredible beauty. This territory is covered in landforms (replete with wild flowers in summer), rivers, streams and mountains. In the case of the latter it contains Mount Logan Canada's highest peak. A boom in population occurred during the famous Klondike Gold Rush in 1897 and led to it's separation from the NWT in 1879.
