No, this isn’t a statement about the high price of gas, it is about immigration. The beautiful mesquite tree next to the gas station on Brantford St. and Sixth, is a native of Mexico, the Southwestern United States, South America, Africa, India, and the Middle East. How it got to western Canada I do not know. It is easily identified by its 4-9 inch long bean pods which can be faintly seen on the skyward photo. Native Americans used the bean pods for food. The pods were ground to make flour; they were also used for making a therapeutic tea. It is about 70 F.
