Trillium Forest

33110 views Earl Hartlen May 5, 2021 Norfolk County, ON Date shot: May 3, 2021

One of the favorite foods for white-tailed deer, the blossoming trillium plant is found throughout Ontario, Canada this time of year. In some areas of North America, removing trillium from the wild is considered illegal. Not so in Ontario but please be careful, if the flowers are repeatedly removed and/or the leaves are picked too, the plant can die, as it won’t have enough energy to survive through the winter. In folklore, trillium symbolizes modest beauty.
