Today is the thirty second anniversary of the Tiananmen Square Massacre. On June 4 1989 Although demonstrations in this square started weeks before. It was on June 4 the government sent troops to clear the protestors which the protestors resisted causing the massacre. This picture I took with Mao's tomb in the background was on the the first anniversary of this massacre. The government was prepared for possible demonstrations on this the first anniversary as is evident from all the military equipment that was placed in the square that day. I had to take this picture from the distant periphery of the square as the military had just herded us off the square.
