This is near the bottom of the Southern Hemisphere. It is Summer there now as it was when I took this picture. The winds and currents in this area are very tricky to navigate in; so many shipwrecks occurred round and about this area. This was particularly the case in the days when sailing ships were the only method to do sea travel. Before the Panama Canal existed this was the the only way to circumnavigate South America. This is Cape Horn.
