Monday, February 15, 2016, 7:17 PM - A group of skiers had an unexpected encounter while skiing down the slopes of northern India.
Owen Lansbury of Australia and his friends were following a guide down the hill at a resort in the town of Gulmarg, when they came across a snow leopard.
"OK - so the story is we skied our first powder line and the guide in the yellow almost ran over the leopard," Lansbury posted on Facebook along with a video of the occurrence.

About 30 seconds into the video (above) you can see the animal peeking out from the snow. The leopard appears to then turn around, bounded towards the guide before running off into the forest.
"It stopped just as it huddled in the snow, where it stayed for about a minute checking us out," Lansbury wrote. "It then let out a solid roar and bounded away down the slope toward Dave, but scooted off into the forest, where we think it probably had a kill stashed. Pretty amazing experience!"
Snow leopards are considered an endangered species with about only 4,000 left in the world.
