British swimmer Adam Walker hopes to become the second person to complete seven long distance swims in different parts of the world. If he reaches his goal, he can credit at least some of his success to a pod of dolphins.

During a recent 25 km swim in New Zealand, Walker and a great white shark got a little too close for comfort. Things were looking a bit dicey until a pod of ten dolphins stepped in to escort the swimmer to safety.

According to Adam's YouTube account the dolphins stayed with him for more than an hour, departing when the shark left.

In a Facebook post, Walker -- who just happens to be swimming to raise funds for whale and dolphin conservation -- said the swim will stay with him forever.

The video has been a smash-hit online, racking up nearly 4 million views in under a week.
